Sunny side up.

Today felt like spring. I was sitting out on the front steps simply gazing out into the acreage and it felt like spring. I sit out on the steps during the intro of each season and I feel it changing right before my eyes. When it finally gets here, I know it. I know it because I sense and feel it, not just because the calendar says "First day of spring." Being in touch with nature is the best feeling in the world. Knowing why and how the birds sing and why the leaves fall and change color brings a whole new meaning to the changing of the seasons. Anyone can see the changes, but knowing the reasoning behind them is the true beauty.

The weather brings meaning to each and every day of our lives. In addition to the obvious effects of weather and how they pertain to our daily activities, it also influences our mood. When it's sunny outside, people tend to be in a more cheery mood and more outdoor activities are then taken up. Rainy days tend to bring a bit of slowness and feeling of laziness and relaxation. Stormy days make people feel the need to be on alert and tend to have moods in a bit haywire of ways. Overcast days are the worst of them all, I think. An overcast day makes me feel that there was potential for a beautiful day, but it just wasn't in the stars. It makes me feel there wasn't enough effort put into the day. So alas, I don't put as much effort into my day. I have to remember, Mother Nature, works in mysterious ways...

I dream of sun shine in the winter
Butterflies amidst with their flutter
Bubbles high against the wind
Ice cream man is my best friend

Snow falls drenched around the flowers
Blades of grass with the best empower
Kites flying high against the sky
Laughing family picnics make me cry

Woolly coats and boots to school
A gathering around our pool
Slushies replace our hot coffee
Chewing on our summer toffees

And here it seems I'm quite mistaken
Seasons change although I'm taken
Backwards dream of sun and shine
Are winter scenes just filled with pine

Falling leaves who change their color
Run to beat the sounds of summer
Who race to change the blooms of spring
And throw white flags to a winter thing

I am not sure if you know that I'm a mail lady. It really does keep me in tune with the seasons in a way that I sometimes think only children and lail carriers are. I love that about my job, even when it is inclement out. :-)

I like your poem! And I'm glad you are my friend.
